The National Building Review Board (NBRB) has today held a one-day workshop for Judicial Officers of the Lower Bench, specifically Chief Magistrates and Magistrates Grade I within Kampala Metropolitan area to exchange information pertaining to the Built Environment.

The workshop which is ongoing at Speke Resort, Munyonyo has attracted more than 40 Judicial Officers, representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution as well as members of the NBRB.

The meeting was formally opened by the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Katumba Wamala.

Participants were taken through the Building Control Act 2013 and the Building Control Regulation, 2020.

The Building Control Act 2013 was enacted with the objective to consolidate, harmonize and amend the law relating to the erection of buildings, to provide for building standards, to establish the National Building Review Board (NBRB) and Building Committees, to promote and ensure planned, decent and safe building structures that are developed in harmony with the environment.

Presentations have also been made on Building Standards, Occupation Permits and Investigations.
